Yeah probably. But y’know: They voted for Kemp, and to the extent that they allow him to tell them how to act, it’s on their own heads. I’m okay with just seeing what happens.
The election for Governor of Georgia in 2018 was the closest race since 1966 with Brian Kemp winning by 50.2% of the vote. Kemp was the Secretary of State who oversaw the election. In November 2012, the conservatives in the Supreme Court made changes to the Voter Registration Act that allowed Kemp to engage in active voter suppression. Kemp’s office oversaw the closing of 214 polling locations in mostly African American communities. In the three months leading up to election day, more than 85,000 voters were purged from rolls under Kemp.
Conservatives were talking about Democrats stealing the electron through voter fraud with very little evidence. They did nothing about the clear cases of voter suppression being carried out. After all why hold an election if you’re not going to win. Just ask the people in Wisconsin.
Now the people in Georgia may have a heavy price to pay. Georgia has not flattened the curve. Hopefully the people in Georgia are smart enough to maintain common sense in the face of the pandemic.
You can see the “curve” for Georgia on the Johns Hopkins covid-19 dashboard. Turn the left side panel to “Admin1” and click on Georgia. Give it time to show it’s displaying current Georgia data ( confirmed cases ~ 23,222, Deaths ~ 907, and hospitalizations ~ 4,326) and then the graph in the lower right corner shows you what’s up.
I won’t bother with confidence intervals or adjusted R squared. You can see the inflection point around 3/24 when it took off at around 80 degrees in a ruler straight line. So from 4/4 to 4/14 you had 317 dead and then in the next 10 days (4/14 thru 4/24) you have had 367 dead.
That’s the death toll under lock down. Relaxing those restrictions is signing the death warrant of (What?) at least 450 or more innocent people than that…. per ten days…..to start.
QUESTION: If you don’t care about those innocent peoples’ deaths — why should we give a rat’s ass about yours?
To paraphrase – Want your hair and nails done? Morticians are doing a lot of that business right now. So much so that they’re becoming overloaded. (Please, be my guest!)
‘Blathering’ Trump ripped by the Wall Street Journal for turning on Georgia’s Kemp after encouraging him to open his state
In a blunt-talking column from the editorial board of the conservative Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump was taken to the woodshed for turning on Georgia’s Republican.
‘You’ve lost your mind’: Internet rips Trump for boasting COVID-19 pandemic is headed towards a ‘Miracle end’Deprived of his daily press conferences where he battled with reporters for asking him tough questions, Donald Trump has retreated once again to his Twitter feed.
I was twice stationed in Georgia, once at Benning and once at Gordon, and learned to despise that state more than any other place I’d lived. The racism was open and encouraged and deep. They’ve been proud for generations at keeping non-whites out of voting, as best they could, and still do it (see Kemp notes above for one example).
With the evidence that the virus is quickly destroyed by sunlight, maybe states should make it a part of “opening up” that all business must be conducted outside. Sorry, movie theaters.
overheard in Georgia-husband comes home and wife says to him-“somebody i heerd taday called y’all a pedophile!”husband replies-“that there’s a awful big word fer a 12 year old!”
Now we’re getting somewhere. The geometry of the sneathe is good, the grips are shown as adjustable. But the blade (as usual) isn’t correctly positioned on the sneathe.

No, Death doesn’t have to hitch-hike. Kemp sent an Uber to pick him up.

My mom lives as close to GA as you can get without actually living in GA, and she’s in her late 80s. Too close for comfort.
