The throwaway gag, “try not to breathe in,” seems more sensible today.

How do you crash a party you have been invited to?

I was going to ask if Calvin was Owen Wilson or Vince Vaughn, but then I remember that was “Wedding Crashers”…

Hobbes had cookies with Susie and Mr Bun at their first meeting. He seems to have had all the cookies himself while Susie’s back was turned. Susie once invited Hobbes to her birthday party and told him “You can bring that dumb kid you hang about with if you must.”Hobbes spent some time alone with Susie and then some time alone without Susie. He seems to have eaten Susie’s birthday cake while he was alone with it.

Kind of sad actually. I have only discovered this comic about a week ago. Just wondering, this little girl with the doll is pre school age? About 4 or 5? Because she doesn’t have any girl friends to invite to her party except the neighbor boy?

When you welcome “unwelcome” guests you can assure yourself of an interesting party. Not necessarily nice, but interesting.

Do not seat Hobbes next to Mr. Bun.

Standard Operating Procedure for kids back in the old days (this IS from 30 years ago)… you didn’t go and PLAY with boys (or girls if you were a boy) because you didn’t want to get caught. :-P

It’s true that Suzie often adopts a surly demeanor. But considering the abuse she’s suffered at Calvin’s hands, her indefatigable forgiving nature would’ve won me over years ago if I were Calvin.

If I had a kid like this he’d get lots of spankings!!!

How many years has Calvin been six years old? Just wait until he finally reaches 16.

I always wanted to see Suzie’s Mr. Bun as she sees him, alive … the same way we see Hobbes. I don’t think it ever happened.

still..well, calvin’s hair is not a comb over (back to front) and calvin is 6. Trump is a 74 year old that acts more like Moe.

I just love the expression of both Calvin and Hobbes in the second last panel.

Only yesterday, Calvin was described as smelly. Now he implies that Susie offends his sense of smell more.
