So what does True have on somebody at Wake Forest for them to go to the trouble of flying him in for the weekend for whatever the heck this was? Did they ship him as cargo?
At least Corina is a cheap date. Buying her a Bucket Burger and a large Hoo may get him to first base after all.
Mimi has probably gone home and found Pedro giving Gil a manssage. A Lucy and Desi moment will likely occur.
Surprised R & W using Wake Forest’s name in their strip, don’t think this will last and they will have to start using “Central State College” which is located in Valley Green, AK on the Big Water River
In all reality , nobody cares that Wake flew you in True, you’re a hasbeen . True your baseball career is over, time to get started in the real world. Thanks Corina, I wish someone would have told me that sooner .
True knows how to sweep a high school girl off her feet, calling her something less than frugal. Did True get his degree at Wake? His calling is coaching and we all know Gil could use the help.
Meanwhile, preparations for the fall football season is underway. Gil has been notified that the baker’s son will not be playing this year because he kept getting knead in the groin last season. That leaves Gil without a team bundter.
News flash, Corina. If you think life at Milford High is going to be constant flash picnics and random food showing up daily, you got another think coming. And speaking of thinks coming, I think a new Mopped Up Thorp is coming. In fact I know it is. In fact it’s already here.
When I first read P3, I was thinking that Tru(e) was flirting with CK with the “cheap date” comment. Then after a minute I realized he meant the cost to Wake Forest to recruit him versus the cost for Milford to “recruit” her. Either way, he better be careful. Unless the reason she was at Valley Modified was because she flunked a year or two, Tampa Bay wouldn’t be too happy to find out that their star pitcher, um, I mean late round longshot is dating a minor.
I couldn’t remember why I started referring to True as Tru(e). It was so long ago. But after yesterday’s business card screw up, I think I now remember. One of the strips wayyyyy back in the first year of Tru(e), I think it was in a narration box, they referred to him as Tru. So after that I started using the Tru(e) to denote does the “e” belong there or not? So from now on, do I need to refer to Mrs. Thorp as Mim(i)?
And I think the long time snarkers remember the origin of Thor p. From a horrible lettering job done by Signman on Gil’s nameplate.

I love how True points to his shirt to drive home the point that it has the same words as he’s speaking. Classic.

P1, I was on Milford’s ragtag baseball team myself at one time, Corina.
P2, That sounds like the eating camp Gil sent me to.
P3, And man, do I like cheap dates!

Comic lettering. I thought it said “I was on this Rasta’s baseball team,” which created an interesting picture.

I am glad State Champ Gil’s expert coaching is getting him ready for the starting rotation this fall.
