I hear ya, Beatrix! “We’ve been waiting FOREVER!” is so apropo for my current situation because my partner and I have been waiting in a queue at the grocery store FOREVER!!!
Most times I have taken one of my furry friends to the vet… I either needed band-aids… or I helped to keep the cat from shredding the doctor! More than half the lobby… has that potential!
Our little boy, Sebastian, goes in to the vet on Wednesday for his snip, snip! His after surgery care should be interesting as he is impossible at the best of times to keep under control.
Hello Orbsters, I felt it necessary to announce that John, my confident cat (per the vet on his last visit) just “hopped the train to butter town.” I caught him up on the kitchen counter licking the Land O’Lakes right out of the tub next to the toaster. It’s the first time in his 13 years of life that I’ve ever seen him taste any People Food, and certainly I never knew he had any interest in butter. He seems extremely pleased with himself, if a bit queasy. I’m hoping he goes upstairs to his morning nap location (day bed in the loft) and just sleeps it off. I’ve never seen him channel Elvis this way, but I guess all cats have a little Elvis in them somewhere.
Like a couple of you, our vet requires us to stay in the car and call when we arrive. Giblet has been having to go in every two weeks to check his blood-sugar to fine tune his insulin. A full sized, upset, tom-cat in a small car…wow, his meow’s really reverberate.
I’m very disappointed that none of the masks are cat print !! I understand however not wearing the cat or dog face as that could scare the other animals.
I’ve put this in replies above, but as so many are referencing having to wait in the cars while their cat is at the vet… I refused to do it. I cancelled Kaboodle’s appointment and will reschedule when I am able to be with her. I’m new to the area, I don’t know these vets (and neither does she!), and I will not allow such a ridiculous thing. Also, if the vet’s office doesn’t seem to have confidence that they can keep the place safe for ME to be there, it’s not safe enough for HER to be there.
I did have one cat who enjoyed visiting the vet. She would jump off the table and explore the room. She purred so loudly they had to put her on a wobbly scale so she would stop long enough to have her heart checked.
I’m new to this, but I just LOVE Georgia’s art. Just recently adopted a cat from a shelter, because his dad was going in a “business” trip for 3 to 5 years depending on good behavior. Hes a big Russian Blue and a cuddle bud. Keeps me laughing; he discovered he has no brakes on a hard wood floor.
“A French violinist has come up with a clever solution to her kitten crying for her every time she practices, and also given the little cat the best seat in the house as she plays.
Rémila the kitten was abandoned, Esther Abrami said, and rescued by the shelter Association Féli-Cité in Aix-en-Provence. Her family acted as the kitten’s host, she said on Instagram.
“When she arrived she was less than 400 grams, scared and had breathing issues from having stayed outside for several days. I’m happy to say that after seven days of milk bottles and constant cuddles Rémila has now become one of the friendliest cats I’ve ever seen.”
The only problem was that she refused to be left on the floor, Abrami said. But, as this video of her playing Fauré’s Aprés un Rêve shows, she found the perfect solution.
Rémila is by turns rapt and napping in her fanny pack as she plays."
Family Day —Some of us have family. Some of us have chosen family. Some of us have extended family. And perhaps some of us have THE FAMILY—who shall remain nameless to protect them … and possibly us. If you have good relations with even some of your family, cherish them.
And if the “Orb” is the only family you have, then hopefully we will always be here for you, whenever you need us.
National Strawberry Cream Pie Day —Now this is a good use for strawberries! In fact, it’s about the only way I really like them (overexposure to strawberries as a child, we had a large patch). And if you get a pie in the face, this is the best kind … IMHO.
National Drink Beer Day —Beer should be the Official World Beverage, as it has existed since at least 6000 BCE. It is proof that nature loves us and wants us to be happy—unless you think that beer means a fizzy yellow liquid only palatable when near freezing, manufactured (not hardly brewed) by a megacorporation, and with one variety named after a bug zapper … I prefer dark, chewy beers with lots of character, like Arrogant Bastard™, although there are some excellent IPAs and similar light colored brews out there. So today I will have an Arrogant Bastard™, because I’m an arrogant beer snob. Those of you who like the fizzy yellow stuff, come over to the Dark Side …
Finally, something for the cats …
Fish Tank Floorshow Night —Got to be at night when all the kittens and children are asleep. Only cats over 18 months will be admitted. Proof of age required. Some of the things those fish do on stage is just too much for young eyes. Who knew there was such a thing as fish lingerie … (Note: Having enough Arrogant Bastard™ or Catnip Nip helps the viewing experience.)

No one’s having as much fun as you are, Beatrix, which is pretty much true of kittens everywhere.
Also, good spacing, People!

Beatrix, can you share some of that kitten energy with me? I think I need it to get through my adulting for the week.

So Baba isn’t going to take this opportunity to “discuss” the tree escapade with Beatrix? “You know I owe a favor to Mags, now. Right?”

Watching cats grumblin’, it ain’t the coolest thing
I’m just squirming in a lap
I’m just trying to make time pass
Out of these cats waitin’ too, I have most of the sass
I’m not waiting patiently
I’m just waiting on the vet
I can’t conceive nor can I believe, all the work ahead of me yet
I’m not waiting patiently
I’m just waiting on the vet
I’m not waiting in a tree
Just waiting on the vet
Not too much bothers me
I’m just waiting on the vet
Should’a brought a book with me
Waitin’, waitin’ endlessly
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, yeah
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, yeah

They let people in the waiting room? Our vet requires us to wait in the car. They send out a tech to get our cat and then discuss him via cellphone.
