“Schmutzed”? That loanword from German (maybe jiddish? Schmutz: German for dirt, stain, filth, grime, muck…) is new to me, how common is its use?
Mr. Spaetzle’s tie and my tees both offer a little taste of the snacks we had earlier in the day. It’s an old guy thing. Of course, being Weeble shaped helps.
While I was stationed in Germany in the late sixties, schmutz and schmutzig were in common use in ordinary street German. Not to say it is still so! Language evolves.
What a beautifully simple setup for a sage piece of wisdom, from the child-like question to the Frazz/Zen response, delivered directly to the reader. Even with only two walls bounding him, Mallette manages to break the fourth wall effortlessly.
Yet most of the comments are from schmucks about schmutz… :-/

A yogi-ism comes to mind – You can observe a lot by just watching.

Mrs. Olsen eyes aren’t shown from her glasses because her lenses are thick. Her eyes only appeared once from her glasses. Just my opinion.

It’s not the verbing of the language that weirds me, it’s the renounification.
