Ellie, you don’t have to have a Christmas that’s “Currier and Ives” perfect, you know.

Does banging your head on the wall mean you are not ready for Christmas, Elly?

Chrismtas is a day away. Wishing, hoping, boxes to open. But we agree it’s right to wait for turkey and dressing after the blessing. And there’s still a night to to wait

Scrooge here checking in. Christmas is just another day of work, like any other holiday. Has been for the past 48 years. At least now the pay is better than it used to be.

I guess that’s Elly’s brother, right? He hasn’t shown up in AGES. He and Georgia bought a house that was close to the Pattersons’ home, but apparently teleported them to another dimension.

But yeah, this kind of thing can get annoying. Especially for people in retail, who will literally get this several times a day.

There are some cliches that are so annoying it makes me grind my teeth. This is one of them, right up there with “cold enough for you?”

It’s really easy to be ready this year. No tree, no presents, and a simpler dinner to prepare (Butterball turkey roll, instead of a huge bird.). No point breaking the bank when no one can travel. :P

I’m never ready for it, but this year, with being retired and the kids living out of state and not travelling, it’s just another day.

This just shows that the burden of a happy Christmas, rests on the woman of the house. She has to make everything perfect for her family, with no support or help.

I almost agree with Elly, hearing ready for Christmas when she is the only one and John not helping. For us due to COVID for our church, for Christmas Eve service there is usually 4 services identical to chose from, this time only 2, also online so we are watching at home. They are changing on the safe candles used.As no grandkids, small family, my sister/husband, also no children, will come to our house for Christmas gathering and meal, then we do open gifts, we draw names around Thanksgiving time, then maybe watch a movie, and then drive around looking at lights. Then my family with adults kids as we are not empty nesters, will do our own simple Christmas. One works pt at a grocery store, other has tried no job, then added one tried hard for work forced to sell what he buys to buyers he researches what buyers are interested in. If my posting hard to understand I can do nothing on that, no complaints.

Away in a manger, no place for Elly to bang her head

The Little Lord Jesus knew the Pattersons were spiritually dead.

Poor John! All he did was ask an innocent question. He had no way of knowing that Elly’d already been asked that multiple times!

My biggest issue with Christmas is the hypocrisy. The concept of “peace on earth, etc.” is only skin deep for the overwhelming majority of those who parrot it every December.
