It sounds perfectly ridiculous in this setting, and yet some big wigs don’t see anything wrong with trying that same approach on human beings.

I understand with trees it’s not so much the oxygen production as the carbon storing. "Scientists estimate that 50-80% of the oxygen production on Earth comes from the ocean. " Still means you shouldn’t plow down half a forest.

Ah, just like most jobs. You’ll have to do more with less.

You will also be using the oxygen of two trees when the sun isn’t shining. At least you will go dormant when the production to use ratio would be unsustainable.

I think every rooftop in the world should have an algae farm on it: as an extra layer of insulation, to absorb photons and make them do work rather than re-radiate in infrared and to convert CO2 back into Oxygen.

You can bark right back at him. He’d end up making an ash of himself if he had to do your job himself. He clearly can’t cedar forest for the trees.

Self-defeating short term approach adopted by too many businesses. These execs secretly hate their own grandchildren.

Sure boss, just double my share of sunshine, water and space and in almost no time I’ll give you the oxygen you ask for. Won’t take more than 15 years.

Ever hear about when Henry Ford decided to start a rubber plantation in South America to supply the tires and other rubber parts on his car. Instead of hiring people who knew something about rubber trees, he got engineers who said, “If we need to produce X amount of rubber, we need to plant Y amount of trees, and based on the amount of land we need to plant them in rows Z inches apart.” So if one tree got sick, it spread through ALL the trees because they planted them too close together. I don’t think he got an ounce of rubber out of that plantation.
