I recently decided against installing solar panels on my roof. I was a good thing for the ecology and I did the economic analysis and it would have paid back handsomely in about 12.5 years.
In 12.5 years, Iāll be in my mid-80ās. I decided to use the money to take the wife and I on a river cruise for our 50th wedding anniversary (whenever the pandemic allows) instead. This is the first time I considered my mortality in a decision. Itās one of the very few times, I put my āpresentā self over my āfutureā self.
My square feet & I hate shoes, but I sure have a lot of them, because (1) on those rare occasions when I can find affordable shoes that fit, Iām likely to buy 2 pair & (2) the first thing I do when I get in the house is kick them off, so they get very little wear. I have shoes that are 30 years old & still in excellent condition.
Iāve never been a shoe person. I do have more than enough pairs due to buying good shoes that wear well. I tend to wear a pair of shoes out before buying more. Now my hair is another issue entirely. Guess we all need our āfixesā but whoās gonna care when Iām sitting in ashes on some wall or storage unit.

If you make the arrangements well ahead of time, you can be buried in the largest Shoe Box in the cemetery.
