I live in the Great North West. It is almost a running joke… but somewhere around March/April… the common ‘complaint’ is – “What is that bright yellow light in the sky!?”
There have been a few cold, dark winters that resulted in my fighting the cats for the sun patch on the kitchen floor when it finally reappeared. However, in my present condition, the sun would not be tempting enough for the pain of getting down and up. So we will all be content with the reclining loveseat and a fuzzy blanket in the living room. Zzzzzz
comfy. in our new apartment, we have a bay style window. Very nice amount of sunshine come in. Cat lays on the bay seat, while the dog lays on the couch by the window.
Cats have to sleep, or just sit, in sunbeams to absorb photons, which they convert to snoozons, and shed both on and under the bed. When sufficient have accumulated there, they may collapse into a small black hole, which makes it very difficult to get out of bed.
Our old (17 1/2 yrs) cat is on a heating pad in front of the furnace vent. It’s on low, but he LOVES it! Also covered with an old towel to keep hair off of the material thing it’s in. We have so few days with sunshine this time of year.

And Lupin rolls a 20 for maximum damage.

Lupin leaps in! With all the grace of a tiny jumping horse…..sunbeams and naps for all, it doesn’t get any better than this!

Hurry, that sunbeam will escape eventually.

Many years ago my parents had a small dog they names Trixie because she LOVED sunbeams coming through the window, just like the baby in “Hi and Lois”.

Beat ya to it, boys. My dog and I found a sunspot yesterday, and had a lovely first-nap-of-the-year.

From the arc of that bounce, it appears that Lupin will land on top of Elvis and Goldie. I predict that nap time will be short.

Atta boy, Lupin. Pounce upon them and wake them up. This is no time to nap. Get back to work work work!

All toe beans are properly tucked away for napping.

I used to live in an apartment with a big south-facing window. I spent a lot of afternoons napping in the sun puddle.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: We have had a glorious celebration of greeting the New Year. Now we all know what happens next.
Elvis-Anum: I have located a beautiful sunbeam for the First Nap of the New Year.
The Queen: And Thomios has prepared his famous New Year’s kibble for snacking.
Sophititi: I have decorated the sunbeam room with found objects, and Maat-Tilda has impossibly tiny sleeping cushions ready.
The Queen: Then there is one thing left. Lupinium?
Lupinium: Thwump!
All: ZZzzzzzzz…..
