Once all the jobs are taken over by automation, who buys the products?

Given the rate at which companies are fleeing California, I think panel one is wishful thinking.

The rest of us need to start learning to speak Mandarin. The problem is NOT that the Chinese are buying up the country, but that CEOs are willing to sell the country to the Chinese.

Don’t anybody tell the “international elites” about Chicago, Miami or the Virginia/North Carolina coast.

But I’m not sure I get the point of the cartoon. Maybe it’s because I don’t shop at Walmart.

It is the dream of the richest 1%… but even this wouldn’t be enough to satisfy them…

Jen has a pretty good grip on the “dystopia” concept so widely used in Science Fiction. Now if she would only pay attention to what is actually happening now as, driven by Republican tax cuts to the rich, poverty increases, the middle class slides downward, and oligarchs live in their fortresses and buy Republicans as a hobby.

Got into the Bay Area housing market in 1978. It was too late. We now live on the far east side of the hills from Oakland about 35 miles from San Francisco as the crow flies.

It’s been allowed to happen. The corporates and wealthy own the politicians, who work mostly for the elite now.

TexMexiplex…..probably have more Mexicans because they are getting vaccinated.I am 81 and in 1b group. My pharmacy said they are scheduled to get the vaccine in MID FEBRUARY.Local hospital got 400 doses for medical folks. Their recording says to call my Local Health Department. We don’t have a Health Department in this city or county.I finally learned that the pharmacies of 2 grocery chains have vaccine, but it’s still only going to medical and emergency personnel.

Should include Houston, as Houston is the main Mexican seaport on the Eastern seaboard. Then goods move down the Inner Coastal Waterway to Brownsville.

Umm. Telecommute, which we now KNOW can work, allows “knowledge workers” to work from anywhere. I recently dealt with a tech support (actually technical) issue about the name service for a website I operate. The tech was intelligent, knowledgeable and efficient. And I heard roosters in the background. WTF? So I asked her about it. She laughed and said she was working from home and pretty nearly everybody in her home neighborhood had a rooster (or more). And were was that? Way out in the countryside in the Philippines.
