“This is a repulsive human being.”“Hey, you should meet his boss.”
Just think, if Zeke had accepted Honey’s offer, the story would have gone in an entirely different direction. After years as the flunky of one of the sleaziest guys anywhere (Duke, of course), she could probably have manipulated Zeke as easily as she’s watched Duke manipulate everyone else all these years. Then maybe Zeke could have been her flunky on the march to the office of the Presidency of China (or whatever). Too late now, of course.
It would have been more accurate for Zeke to say, “So what? So is J.J.!” Marriage isn’t entirely just a state of mind, Zeke. There are laws and stuff.
“Maybe we should just go.” Are you sure Zeke knows that was a possible outcome, J.J.? He seemed pretty sure he was going to be around long enough “to get used to this.”
Since Boopsie and B.D. are married that “proves” that Sam is indeed somewhere in the vicinity. Like I said. ;-)
I wonder if this might even be after B.D. lost his leg (which would explain the ramp that someone mentioned a couple of days ago), except that I think at that point Samantha was about as old Alex is now (i.e. last week) and I’m almost positive that Alex is noticeably older than Samantha. I think Earl is supposed to be older than Alex but younger than Jeff. But, as ever, whatever.
I’ve known women like JJ. They did not have enviable lives. I’ve known men like Zeke. They always at least pretend to be content with their lives. No introspection from either type.
Here’s an interesting 50th Anniversary interview with Trudeau and how he almost accidentally created Doonsebury. https://www.msn.com/en-us/video/peopleandplaces/as-doonesbury-turns-50-harry-smith-talks-to-creator-garry-trudeau/vi-BB1dquTN?ocid=msedgdhp
Who doesn’t want Boopies to tell BD what Zeke just said? Would love to see those fireworks! (no, I don’t remember this part of the comic, it’s been ages).
I thought Trini Lopez sang it. “In Trinidad, there was a family, with much confusion as you will see, there was a mama and a papa, and a boy who was grown, who wanted to marry and have a wife of his own. Woe is me, shame and scandal in the family…and ends with Your papa ain’t your papa but your papa don’t know!”

Do JJ and Zeke ever break up? I can’t remember if they do. Wikipedia says that they get married at one point.

J.J. thinking Boopsie’s revulsion is jealousy tells us everything about J.J! Definitely, she and Zeke are made for each other.

At least with Boopsie, Zeke’s tastes in women would be improving.
Somewhat.
