It is true that a huge jackass was using Twitter for a very long time. But they have now gotten rid of him. Varvel would probably object to that right though, because apparently he endorses armed insurrection against the USA and murder.

getting a little tired of the “twitter is a private corporation” argument.. ..twitter has become . . .ubiquitous. . . it has become a kind of public utility for political speech

I have little sympathy for Trump, having myself been booted off of twitter numerous times, but a lifetime ban is probably over-the-top

1) Twitter has and always has had terms of service regulating what can and cannot be posted;

2) Trump has famously violated those terms of service for years, with Twitter saying that overriding public interest prevented them from suspending his account;

3) Trump’s recent postings crossed the line between “public interest” and “public threat;”

4) Twitter suspends his account.

The ban isn’t about party or ideology, it’s about Trump, and Trump has only himself to blame.
