But CK is ineligible, because she got paid to catch for Tru Standish last summer, so she’s a professional catcher. Or can she make the case that this doesn’t apply, since it was men’s baseball rather than girls’ softball? Calling Hadley V. Baxendale!
P1 – and how would Gil know? P2 – bad luck to be stepping on stripe on court…. parking lot….field? P3- the hand reappears in a location / approval gesture
Hmmmm if Jocelynn Brown is a senior being replaced by a younger player what year of school is CK in and how many more years of her antics do we snarkers have material to troll the strip for?
P2 Are you kidding? Our player coach CK already let me know she is benching me so she can do the catching, ummm…do you work for a paper or TV station lady? I saw you hanging around the basketball team the last couple of games
I’m holding out for CK playing on the guy’s team. She’s better than their catcher too (and there have been girls on the guys’ team in the past… Don’t think we’ve had a guy yet saying he’d prefer to play softball).
Ahh, the spring is progressing and we’re getting a healthy dose of … sports drama! [five seconds later] We regret to inform you that the sports drama has been quickly and painlessly resolved. Sorry, the only kind of drama Gil Thorp has time for now is library drama. Books! Funding fights! Board meetings! Get into it!
Okay, time for another fearless prediction that will undoubtedly fail. The baseball team has a problem with giving up too many passed balls because their catchers suck. Gil recruits CK to catch for the boys, because, screw the chances of the girls team! Unless it’s allowed for her to play on both teams.

P3: Boy, she hides her disappointment well…“Now I have more time to go to the library….I hear there are rows of unused computers!”

P1, Gil, “And she’s going to be my catcher!”
P2, “Are you kidding? I’ve been looking for a way out of this ridiculous strip for two years!”
P3, Um, I don’t think you quite understand Jocelynn. We don’t have a place for you on the team anymore.

P1- GilPa defers CK to Mimi. Mrs. Thorp must be a real nose tickler with that hairlip.
P2- Now that BKB’s sister Jocelynn is freed from the tools of ignorance, she can make things happen.
P3- Cecil or Prince Fielder model?

Actually, as annoying as CK is, she’s better than library boy Burrito

Wow! Mopman even has the fence shining in P2. He’s a first-ballot Hall of Fame custodian when he becomes eligible.

Jeez, Meems. That was the hard conversation? I can’t wait until you have to tell Gil about Pedro.

P 2.5: “…are you kidding?…I know it’s hard picking a team captain but I’m up to the challenge…”

P1 – Gotta be the only school where the teachers insist on always using each student’s full name.
P2 – Not sure why they’re having this conversation on the tennis courts. (More obvious in color version.)
P3 – “So you’re saying you didn’t come prepared? You expected to not play catcher and you leave your mitt in your locker? Don’t bother coming back.”
And speaking of coming back, I know you’ll be coming back to Mopped Up Thorp: https://moppedupthorp.wordpress.com/
