So goat is one of the commentators that doesn’t actually have anything to add to the conversation so they attack the person because they wrote their instead of they’re?
NOTE: today’s feedback comments were amusing, to say the “least” (chuckle).Been going back in time lately on certain strips.Just started this morning with the first month of 2002 for Pearls Before Swine. Thought I was going to “bust a gut” as I laughed continuously at the days’ comics.
Lay is a transitive verb. One thing performs the action to another. You lay a book on the table.Lie is intransitive. It does not take a direct object. You lie (recline) on the couch.Today I lay the book on the table.Yesterday I laid the book on the table.I have laid the book on the table.(Lay can usually be replaced by put.)
Today I lie on the sofa.Yesterday I lay on the sofa.I have lain on the sofa.(Lie can be replace with a form of sit.)
In the context of this panel, “lay” is correct. “Lie” means to tell an untruth. Right there with everyone today one using “love” when they should be using “like”. Our American language has gone to hell.
