We all encounter decision points but usually don’t realise it until much, much later.

I see cut-offs being worn again.

Shortly after there was the incident with the pothole, the bicycle seat and a lack of protection.

Between my second and third year of college, I explored the country from MN through BC to CA and back on bicycle. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Old pix always lead to new trouble.

ouch… that comment hurt. I can see the pain in Arlo’s eyes in the last panel :-(

The mustache almost makes Arlo look older than he is now. Well, I think so anyway.

Or is this that time she met Larry Bird?

Instead, he stormed the shores of Janis!

Ah, the follies of youth.

And, for me, surpassed only by the follies of retirement. I thought that we would finally travel and do things. No luck. Too darn busy catching up on all of the jobs around the house that I had to put off because I was working.

Maybe we’ll get to see some of Janet’s old photos. She was quite the free spirit in those days.

I wonder if she has some pictures of Vince from her working days? She was quite taken with him at the time.

First year of retirement my wife and I spent 10 weeks biking in Europe. We just did 20 miles a day. There’s great bike trails and bike guide books. Check out the Danube trail.

99% of all us 60-somethings have photos of ourselves looking like that. Hopefully not in the wedding album though.

You should have done it, Arlo. I joined a group called Bikecentennial in 1975 and by 1977 I was in shape to join a group ride across the country. One of the best summers I ever had.

That was a picture of me at that same point in my life. Got the facial hair out of my system.

She’s going to regret that when he comes home from the bike shop tomorrow.

Soon as Arlo got out of college, he discovered that he had no way to fund exploring the country by bicycle and was unwilling to depend on the Kindness of Strangers. He might have even been married to Janis by then. Life happens and dreams die.

Can we get Janis in Daisy Dukes instead of Arlo in jorts?

Arlo’s still got a good head of hair! I’m about the same age and have been balding for decades.

Who hasn’t?

People are either a doers or talkers. The doer decides what his goal is, breaks it down into steps needed to accomplish that goal and then does it. The talkers all talk big, but are unwilling to do the work to accomplish their stated goal goal

I took a year off after high school to hitch-hike around the U.S. I simply wasn’t ready for college at that point. Even over 40 years later I still remember a lot of that trip and have no regrets about the decision.

Uh-oh … .

Subtler than most, the joke here is that Arlo found something more compelling to explore. It’s not clear whether Janis realizes that it was her.

Oh my gosh, if it weren’t for the mustache, I would have thought he was a girl.

Our photos are not like other people’s photos. When Kmart first opened here we took our vacation photos to them – excited after hearing ads for their photos on the radio/TV while traveling they were finally here.

They lost our photos. In trying to find them they asked for descriptions of the people in the pictures. ""Ummm, most of them do not have photos in there, only colonial buildings and furniture – but one has a bunch of people – some in regular clothing, most in 18th clothing, in an 18th century courthouse…." They never did find them and my husband was one of the people in modern clothing as he had been picked to be a judge at the trial – which is why I took the photo. (That was before we started doing reenacting or he would have been in the 18th century clothing.)

Now with the magic of not having to pay to get to photos printed and they can just stay electronically our photos are 18th century historic items and embroideries.
