Did he just “kill it” with one comic lesson by using two cliches?

Did he just use two cliches to “kill it” in one comic?

These words, “Flocks of sticks and stones may break birds of feathers and bones together in a bush.”, may never hurt you.

Avoid cliches like the plague. No fragment sentences. Eschew obfuscation.

Writers in the 1930’s – Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, among them – drew from a wonderful, colorful trove of cliches. The crop has become mostly bland and less widely applicable or interesting since the 1960’s.

My favorite is Rex Stout. “So you’re the murderer!”, I ejaculated.

Fine, he’s the murderer, no reason to get worked up about it. If you’re going to be doing stuff like that, get a room for goodness sake.

Avoid string together too many prepositional phrases unless you’re walking through the Valley Of The Shadow Of Death.

But if you don’t use cliche’s, you’ll never write a Sam Spade novel.

There’s more cliches here than you can shake a stick at.

There was a college kid who said he didn’t like reading Shakespeare because it was full of cliches. Of course, they only became cliches after his plays became famous.

Be avant garde! Refer to a 3-metre pole. A century from now, even Americans will understand what you meant.

Clichés. They come a dime a dozen; people use them like they are going out of style.
