“As you know” is a polite translation of “As I’m sure you have forgotten” or “Gonna slide this fact by you right quick before you can catch it”, depending on the speaker and audience.
Sounds like a perfect peace treaty: Everybody wins, everybody who is a raccoon or opossum, anyway. Truth be told, the rest don’t matter (to the raccoons and opossums) or care (to the rest). However, since it is tangentially related to trespassing raccoons, we have a cat news report about it.
Okay, so Georgia isn’t changing the timeline on us. This is after Mouse left the cat rescue (in 1989) and she’s now living at the farm. So she’d be around 2. And since we know Freddie passed on in 1989, this means Angus outlived her. I wonder who’s living in the Big Pink House with him?
So Wicket won’t be making an appearance, though Beau might!
Oh yes, the Raccoon Opossum wars, were right after the Clone Wars.
“Commander Kenobi (aka the cameraman), you helped her father during the clone wars, and now she seeks your aid. Please take this microphone away from the empire, and deliver it back to Breaking Cat News Reporter Baba Mouse.”
Hurry, before the warrior princess can spread her evil through the lands. The dark side runs deep in her.
Actually, opossums are far more useful that raccoons. They eat ticks and lice, and can’t catch rabies. That being said, raccoons have them beat on the cuteness scale.
OT: Yesterday’s comments: No, Yum Yum is not particularly amused by Smudge’s antics. Yum Yum is now a genteel, rather staid, middle-aged lady; Smudge is in full child mode, into everything, and she BITES.
I’ve been wondering why we stopped seeing comments from our younger BCN fans. I finally got around to reading the comment policy and discovered they’ve suspended the accounts of those under 13. Since the BCN books are marketed towards grade and middle schoolers, it’s a shame they’ve been left out of the conversation. I hope the many aren’t being punished for the antics of the few and that this policy is for the protection of the younger one. If this post survives, and if the youngsters are still reading—we miss your viewpoint and hope you will be back once you turn 13.
In otherwords “We vile raccoons started the war and kicked the possums out of the area. Now we plan to persecute the possums even more as we start a new war with outdoor cats. And there’s nothing you noble outdoor cats can do to stop us. We won’t stop until we rule all.”
Dear everyone, too many to name—-I just read all the good wishes and prayers both pepper and I received yesterday from BCN “viewers.” Omg, I am still crying but this time with gratefulness. If you ever wonder whether your sentiments really make a difference, the answer is resoundingly yes!!!! Pepper is on my lap. I read your comments out loud to him, too. Biskits

But the Raccoons and Opossums forgot there was a third side to the ‘war’. The people in the buildings.

Possible wordplay: If that is a jar of fireflies, and Mag uses it as a flashlight, then we could have a – Mag’s light ( Maglite).

Why do I hear the La Marseillaise in my head when Mag is talking about the war? Perhaps because today is Bastille Day?
Anyway, I think the Quinn Farm is Rick’s Cafe.

It’s not unusual to be bugged by anyone
It’s not unusual to have words with anyone
But when Mouse sees you hanging out on Angus’ lawn
It’s not unusual she’ll ask you why
She’s gonna pry
It’s not unusual to go out at any time
But when Mouse sees you trespass about it’s such a crime
If you should ever wanna argue with anyone
It’s not unusual
It happens every day
No matter what you say
You’ll find it happens all the time
Mags will never do what Mouse wants her to
Let’s watch this crazy news on line
It’s not unusual to be mad with anyone
It’s not unusual to be sad with anyone
But when we find out the agreement from that war time
It’s not unusual to see from Mags’ point of view
Whoa-whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa-whoa, oh-ohh
Whoa-whoa, oh-oh-oh-oh, whoa
Whoa-whoa, whoa-whoa

One of the top songs from 1991: Rem’s Losing My Religion
Oh, life is bigger
More complicated
Than war between raccoons
And opossums
There is the Big Pink House
And now, I’ve said a lot
I set it up
…….
That’s me on camera
That’s you on the lawn
With your bling and weapon
Trying to persuade you to leave
And I don’t know if I can do it
And now, you stole my mic
I want it back!
…….
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
…….
Every hissing
And every single poof
I’m doing my reporting
Trying to keep an eye on you
And not sure of the boundary rules, rules
And now, I’ve said a lot
I set it up
…….
Magnet: Consider this
Consider this
The raccoon and opossum war,
Consider this
We won
The spoils of war,
Trash!
So what of all the humans
Come running around,
We just don’t care that much!
…….
Mouse: I know that I hear you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I know I just saw you steal my mic!
…….
But I’ll have the last laugh
The last laugh!
…….That’s me on camera
That’s you on the lawn
With your bling and weapon
Trying to persuade you to leave
And I don’t know if I can do it
And now, you stole my mic
I want it back!
…….
But I’ll have the last laugh
The last laugh!

So the Opossum’s got the garages. That must be why the one was in the garage in this stirp: https://www.gocomics.com/breaking-cat-news/2020/03/15.
