Please do not feed the usual contingent of trolls here. This is a serious question on the basic mal-distribution of wealth, and doesn’t need to be knocked down by those who have no empathy or social conscience.
See how wonderful the Republican tax policy is? Gazillionaires can spend their millions or billions on jaunts into space. Who needs roads, bridges, parks, affordable housing, and schools? (snark).
Same2Ubuddy — perhaps we are racist. But we try to acknowledge and fix it, unlike you. The Trumpublican plan is to drive America to de facto slavery (equal opportunity, you won’t necessarily have to be a person of color) and continue to punish the victims. Be proud!
Although there might be what some people consider “better uses” for money, in the U.S. we allow people to spend their own money as they want (as long as they don’t break laws in the process). If one wants rich people to spend their money in certain ways, one will have much better success convincing the rich to do so by using charm rather than guilt trips…
There is little relationship to the two events unless we ask about the logical consequences of the current tax system and the extreme reluctance of one pollical party to changes.
Maureen Dowd/NYT, had an interview with Bernie Sanders — he mentioned this very thing, Lalo. I also believe folks should do what they want with their money, just wish there was a little more compassion for the poor/homeless.

Explore space – It creates jobs. It bolsters economies. It brings us knowledge and new technology. But don’t forget that people right here on earth are struggling. Think of them first, then explore space. But this latest crap is a slap in the face from rich people just saying that they are so much better than everyone else. Remember too that many of them are paying less in taxes than you are and this is giving them tax breaks and government funds. This is not exploration – its a joyride.
People should be reducing the number of commercial plane flights and now this is going to add more pollution into the atmosphere? Humanity is heading over a cliff like lemmings and people are worried about wealth distribution?
So much to explain…why we let billionaires’ vacation in space when our country is burning because of climate change; why we sent troops to Iraq when the terrorists were from Saudi Arabia; why the Supreme Court decided corporations were people; etc.

Here’s a thought. If you’re poor maybe you shouldn’t be having children in a world that’s already overpopulated.
