Whoa! Look at Jules from prehistoric time all the way to the present.Plus I spy a little Golden Mouse in those pictures , too! Georgia’s imagination continues to astonish me.
I originally tried to write “Gumdrop” in Greek lettering for Clover’s father, but it looked a little off in the picture and I could not be certain I had the lettering correct. However, I mention here for fun that Gumdrop (as in, “we know this for it was guinea-penned by Clover, son of Gumdrop”) was the artist of the Greek styled piece of art!
Jules looks like a scarab in the Egyptian depiction. Cool way to wind down the 1991 Jules/Baba Mouse arc. However we do have one more day left in July. Perhaps an opportunity for Jules to drop in on his old friend “Mouse”.
I really enjoyed this arc with the young Mouse and Mags, Clover and especially Angus! 1990/1991 was when the last couple of my Grandmother Hannah’s cats left us along with a blue point Siamese cat (Smokey) my Mom had who lived to be almost 19 so seeing Angus kind of reminded me of those old cats who were around my parents house through my college years in the ’80s after my grandma passed away.
I play a “hidden objects” game on occasion, and one of the favorites is “Greek Ornament”. That pattern along the bottom of the black-background panel is one. I feel like I should click it.
Sophititi: Class, before we begin our scroll painting class, I would like to thank Elvis-Anum for his generous donation of paints and brushes, and Kat-Mandu for his generosity donating papyrus.
Class: Thank you!
Kat-Mandu: It’s been my pleasure. Now I must go and deliver papyri throughout the land.
Elvis-Anum: Mine as well.
Sophititi: I would also like to point out that Elvis-Anum is noted for his fine calligraphy.
Several in the class: Oooh, would you teach us?
Elvis-Anum: Well, I don’t know if I’m quite up to that.
Sophititi: I’m sure you would be a much-appreciated addition to our classes here.
Elvis-Anum: Well, when you put it that way, how can I refuse the LIbrary?
Interesting mix of mediums—first in old Egyptian style, then in Greek, then in a style reminiscent of tapestries from around the middle of the, well, Middle Ages.
AH HA! We have a clue how old Jules is. Look at that cave painting. Jules is in there. So Jules is over 40,000 years old! And the third image, looks Greek or Roman. Wonder if they were trying to behead Jules.
I need a little help with my perception of the Greek section. Before Georgia told us he was Gumdrop, I was wondering about what look like two arms on one side of the guinea pig. My imagination went to mythological hybrids, like centaurs. It’s so far fetched, but I was wondering if he could be a guinea pig- July bug hybrid?
I keep trying to convince myself that what I’m seeing isn’t little bug arms, but rather just folds in the fabric of the toga. That’s it, right? Has to be. Or, something else more sensible. Please, talk me down from this weird impression I can’t seem to shake.

An immortal and a watcher/chronicler. Think of the history that they have seen and influenced.
This is an absolutely perfect way to end this particular story arc.

The Beatles: In My Life
There are places I have traveled, throughout centuries and places, too.
Some are still there, some no longer, some have changed in ways the long years through.
Some brought me joy, some brought me sorrow, there are places I would like to see again.
I’ve met new friends, and seen new faces, in my life it never ends!
…….
But of all these times and places, there are none that compare with you,
Friends and faces inside the Great Orb, every year it brings me joy brand new,
Though I’ll travel through the millennia, seeing times and places new and old, I’m sure,
And I’ll love every one of them,
In My Life, I love you more!
(George Martin’s brilliant piano playing)
Though I’ll travel through the millennia, seeing times and places new and old, I’m sure,
And I’ll love every one of them,
In My Life, I love you more!
