My mother used to take us out to pick wild strawberries. That was a heck of a chore. A whole day, shot to hell. But in the dead of winter for dessert on Sundays she opened one of the jars of strawberry jam that we had with fresh cream and bread for dipping… It was like opening a jar of sunshine.
If we all did the jobs we loved we still be in the stone age. I don’t know what world most of these commentators come from but all the people I know work to live, not live to work.
69 years old and still trying to figure out who “they” is/are. Are the same “they” that say “all work and not play …. et al” the same “they” that we talk about when we say ""they’ say it’s going to rain today"?
My dad worked a physically demanding job and had to be tired when he got home from work, but when the lawn needed mowing, I can remember him saying, “Well, I think I want to mow the lawn.” Not “have to” or “need to,” but “I want to” … It’s all in the attitude. I try to remember that.
