I’d rather read than spend money, myself…

Not being the same twice (or thrice, or…) is part of what makes a good book a good book.

But if she has already read it there is no need to read it again in order to give Caufield a summary.

I wouldn’t have pictured Caulfield to not read a book himself. At least none that promises to be a good read.

But maybe he’s just flirting.

After awhile you can (almost) know some books by heart.

I am Sam. … Sam I am. … That Sam-I-am! That Sam-I-am! I do not like that Sam-I-am! … Do you like green eggs and ham? …

Some books I just read over and over. Desert Solitaire, Edward Abbey and PrairyErth, William Least Heat-Moon. That is just a couple.

All the comic strips that have kids talk about a summer reading lists. Was this self imposed? I never had a summer reading list from school. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have read any in grade school.

Oh, boy, this kid has to be told what to read and doesn’t have the imagination to figure anything out for herself?

The saying I’ve heard is, “A book worth reading is worth reading again.” I don’t know who said it, though…

I have some books I haven’t read in eight or ten years. When I do reread them, I’ve forgotten so many details or characters that it’s almost fresh to me. Ah, good times!

So you’re telling me that Caulfield gets to not read his last book, and then he gets a free date with ice cream afterward? Shrewd, Caulfield, shrewd.
