I think, Pam, your concerns are real but not a problem for at least two or three years, when the Valley Girl vocabulary merges with the emojis and then all is lost!
Well it’s true man, has lost the ability to communicate with words, and our hieroglyphics are unintelligible. Did we learn nothing from the ancient Egyptians??
Don’t knock it if it helps Brewster communicate better. He needs all the help he can get. Cliff on the other hand never has anything useful to say, so it doesn’t make any difference.
If you can find the McGuffey Readers and compare the first level reader to the “See Jane. See Jane run. Run, Jane, run!” that I used in first grade in 1966, you will see that children’s education was failing badly long before emojis.

There a sculpture in San Jose of the Aztec snake god Quetzalcoatl that looks exactly like the poop emoji.

Maybe using too many emojis caused Rickard to forget basic grammar? “Is”, not “are” Tim!

I’m very disappointed that GoComics doesn’t let me just click an emoji
