I don’t know how she’s reached nine years old (or whatever it is) without having come across the concept of “bad words.”

Wait till she finds out about the ‘Oxford Comma.’

Interesting. It’s the second quote attributed to a Kennedy who died 2 days after his birth. Or maybe there’s another of that name out there who has not yet been recognized as the sage of the age.

Good punctuation is important, but good grammar is importanter.

I expect this won’t be a problem in twenty years or so, when we’re all communicating with emojis.

You want an issue with vowels and consonants? Lemme give you one: y and w. They’re not canonical vowels like a, e, i, o, and u, but they sure function like them. Run that idea past your HS English teacher if you’re looking for something to waste half an hour of class time.

All you need to “get” is that the teacher said not to use the word in class… and refrain from doing so.

Tone of voice is more important than the words themselves.

Like the man said, “Smile when you say that, Pardner!”

And if you don’t learn grammar and punctuation, people will mock you on Comment pages :)

No, they’ll be more concerned about other four-letter F-words.

I’m afraid by high school half the teachers have given up on grammar and punctuation. They’re just hoping to get students to cogently express a thought before they graduate.
