Great pathos in the two first lines.

You can take the tiger out of the jungle, but you can’t take the jungle out of the tiger.

Calvin might want to trade Hobbes in on a hamster.

I love the way Watterson introduces Hobbes stalking his prey. A paw, an undulating back, nose and whiskers, whole body but not head, a back view of him poised to spring, with twitching tail, and then the determined face. Then we see Calvin through Hobbes’ eyes. Wonderfully done.

Not sure how that pillow will be explained to mom later.

Why sharing your bed with hand grenades, or tigers, isn’t your best idea

Be happy, he didn’t grasp you, Calvin, he only meant you!!

You have to sleep now on the ruined cushion, Hobbes!

A friend to be frightened!

One of my all time favorites. Along with about 3600+ others.

Let’s not forget: THE WIZARD OF OZ turned out to be just a dream.

Which was not what it was in L. Frank Baum’s book; there, Oz was a real place.

When I was about Calvin’s age, I actually did have a stuffed tiger which I slept with. And then my brothers thought it would be fun to chase me around the house while telling me it was going to eat me. We moved less than a year after that started, and the tiger mysteriously disappeared in the move.

Finally, reality kicks in……

If you must have a big cat, choose a cheetah or a snow leopard. They’re practically harmless.

Dream Calvin needs to throw in a few zigs and zags when running from dream Hobbes. He might last longer.

Relax Cal, it was just a practice run.

One of my grandson’s great joys is to watch our cat do the butt wiggle before she attacks something. My silly cat isn’t that much different from a Bengal Tiger. Or Hobbes.

A few days of dealing with Moe just got easier.

The risk/reward of sleeping next to a tiger

Bill could tell a better story with no words than most authors can with 10,000.

Simply awesome artwork. From the initial suspense of a single paw, Hobb’s expression as he locks onto his prey, the feeling of motion as he’s on the chase. So much fun!

“Most people don’t sleep well next to a hungry tiger.”

At least it wasn’t a stuffed toy that looked like Calvin that Hobbes was shredding.

Sometimes you don’t need a spoken word to convey a story. Wonderfully done.

A true classic…

It’s rare to get a dream from Hobbes’ perspective.

And presto! You now have nightmares!

That could have easily been the real Calvin. He got lucky.

" You didn’t get enough sleep last night, Calvin? Well, you’ll have to go to bed even earlier tonight!".

Hobbes does not exist with Calvin to animate him. The tiger needs Calvin.

I’d be more worried if Hobbes broke out the toothpicks

Love the sheepish grin.

I get that feeling sometimes when I wrestle with a cat and its starts making those “cute” disemboweling kicks with the back claws.

Must’ve been one strange dream!

Now that is frightening.

Everything about this strip is perfection. So funny.

And still there are some that think Hobbes is just a stuffed toy…

im suprised calvin has never had a fantasy about beating up Moe, because we’ve aaaaalll had a revenge fantasy

One wonders why the cat is always grinning when it dreams!

I, too, love how zero words are necessary to tell an awesome story.
