Just look at those clothes- male and female! Beraud is considered the artist of record for the Belle Époque, and he has the “Belle” part down well indeed. It was only for the few, of course. Like the Côte d’Azur today. As it morphed into “fin de Siecle”, and on to pre WWI, something beautiful was lost. I never knew it, I never lived it. I know it’s illusory. Yet I miss it.
On a totally irrelevant front, and presuming shamelessly lolon your good nature, I need to share this with someone. There is an Xray team unleashed upon us every morning, and they move swiftly and decisively. They are large and machine is huge. They charge up to your bed , hoist you by the sheets , jam a plate behind your back, zap you, and are gone. Puts me in mind of Viking raiders Viking raiders descending upon an Irish coastal village ca.800 A.D. – but with salubrious intent. I’m still dazzled by their work..
The old man noticing the seductive movements of the young lady thought to himself, “Whoohoo, Mildred will be so happy, I won’t even need the viagra tonight.”
It’s really a difficult tussle / For a lady to don a good bustle. / But it’s purpose is clear, / Note the gent with the beard, / Who is certainly about to be hustled.
I have added a comment there (awaiting Mr. Melcher’s approval) pointing to the artist info I used to point to here. So far, 11 works by this artist, have been used here (16 times total, including this Throwback Thursday repeat, and 4 earlier repeats, including another Throwback Thursday).
This new “high heels” shoe style forces the girls into a grotesquely distorted posture and may cause permanent injury. It’s going to be such a big hit! Where can I invest?

Exactly what message is this church trying to send by covering all the sharp & pointies on top of the wrought iron fence in gold?

/// For the funeral of F. Chopin,
to be held at the church Madeleine,
he’d instructed l’église,
“Sing a sad Mozart piece.”
(Some parts couldn’t be done by a man.)
/// Though the Requiem, females, required,
women never before had been hired.
Behind black velvet curtain
girls were placed, to be certain
that no mourners, the chorus, desired.
/// Three girl choristers leaving the Church,
had been singing in that darkened perch.
From crouching down low
through the very long “show,”
they now walked with a Groucho-esque lurch.
(Based on a true story.)
