In weaning myself off FB I Discovered several things: 1) on FB, I felt I was in touch up-to-date with friends and family…that’s a myth. Posts are Nothing like reality of what these loved ones are experiencing 2) I love seeing photos, so I do miss those. Now I ask for them to be shared by email. 3) phone visits are wonderful when distances are too far for personal visits 4) it took a bit of weaning, but not terribly difficult .. And the fuller relationships plus peace of mind is grand
Social media seems to give people more room to be narcissistic then they would otherwise. Rat likely hates it because social media makes him just big mouthed fish in an extremely crowded pond.
“All that’s necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing.” *
We’re too late?
(Quote attributed to Edmund Burke, but the closest to it actually found in his writings is: “When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.”

I’d comment on today’s strip but I need to post about my kids WHO ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD AND EVERYONE ON SOCIAL MEDIA LOOKS FORWARD TO THESE POSTS I’M SURE!
I peeked into my FB account after a near 2 year reprieve. What a mess. I only keep it as backup for friends that use the FB messenger for serious announcements.
The infallible method of dealing with social media is to simply ignore it all and not participate….period. I have never been a part of it and never will, and have always considered it to be a bad idea. If I’m in the mood to socialize I do it in person or over the phone.
The Machine Wars are being won by the Machines and their insidious Fifth Column, the Apps. Take a hint: Protagonist-Guy in the story is a Redshirt Guy, and we all know what that means!…

This is not like social media. In social media, you don’t even have to say “Hi” for someone to slam you with their opinion.

My favorite one was “World War 2 bomber found on the Moon” in the now defunct Weekly World News. Social media put it out of business!

It still better than the the lying paid propaganda peddling mainstream media café. They serve you muddy water and tell you its coffee.
