Ariall may have picked the wrong two countries for the fish names. Moldava is pretty much an economic basket case, so they might be happy to have someone with at least some money take over. As for Georgia, the Russians already invaded them with lots of explosions and burning buildings, and then they left, I assume with a smiling “have a nice day” remark. They might think just being occupied was better than drive-by bombings and artillery strikes. Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia…EU or not, they have got to be scared silly. Poland…EU also, but EU with tanks that aren’t 50 years old, and a reputation for being very prone to resistance.

We Have Never Been Here Before -Thomas L. Friedman - nytimes.com

…today’s world is resting on two simultaneous extremes: Never have the leaders of two of the three most powerful nuclear nations — Putin and Xi — had more unchecked power and never have more people from one end of the world to the other been wired together with fewer and fewer buffers. So, what those two leaders decide to do with their unchecked power will touch virtually all of us directly or indirectly.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is our first real taste of how crazy and unstable this kind of wired world can get. It will not be our last.

The corollary to that is America’s inability to handle the threat from our own corrupt oligarchs funding the party of Trump. Just as Putin and Xi are coming up against the inherent contradictions in their worldview, we the third powerful nuclear power are finding a significant fraction of our population and the political party inciting them are caught in a positive feedback loop that makes them more extreme every day. If the Trumptards return to power, they and the GQP kleptocrats will become increasingly unchecked as well.

Trump’s “twisted” praise for Putin continues at CPAC

Trump with his Authoritarian-bent — belongs no where close to that “Nuclear Football,” ever again. No where close to the most powerful military on the planet.

No where close to being the leader of the Free World — not if he thinks Putin’s illegal and immoral invasion of Ukraine “is genius”.

Well, the sanctions may not stop the Ukraine take over, but an adversarial nation still needs funds to finance any future warfare. Of course, the Russo/China alliance is being strengthened as these two pseudo-communist nations need support from someone with similar expansionist designs.

And the roads are littered with broken down, and just plain out of fuel Russian vehicles. The tank is only as powerful as the supply train behind it.

He got away with Crimea under Obama. If he takes Ukraine the sky is the limit. He knows Joe and his Democrat colleagues are weak. He is like a bully on the playground. I dare you to prove me wrong.
