Thanks to everyone who explained what “theme” means. Since I am only familiar with parties in which the planning does not go beyond “white wine goes with carpet, red wine goes with linoleum”, it opens up new vistas.
So, nobody brought up Lupin’s upraised rear paw in the last panel yet? My friends, you need your coffee (or tea) still. It isn’t BCN comments without a SQUEEEE for toe beans here.
Come now, Puck, you can do better. At least try for some chicken. This does bring to mind a moment in a certain Christmas story arc. “Nobody be a bad kitty!”
When I was on a late date, Wilamena the Radio Cat found the kibble bag on top of the refrigerator. When I got home, I found that she had ripped it open and was eating from the bag, while the others cats were feasting on the floor. Smartest cat I ever met.
Update on Carmela’s father: Heart catheter showed no blockage but while doing the procedure his heart rate varied from 120 to 42. Wow, no wonder he gets dizzy and falls. They are now looking to stabilize his heart rate either by drug or pacemaker and are leaning towards the drug because it doesn’t require surgery. Whenever they do release rim he will need to have live in care or be in a rehab center because his wife doesn’t get around well on her own and would not be able provide the help he needs. Nether one of them want to do the rehab center. The pneumonia has cleared so that’s crossed of the list.
Years ago, I had a cat named Marble. One Thanksgiving I went away for 5 days and entrusted a dear friend to care for Marble. I distinctly remember leaving the bag of kibble on the counter and thinking “this could end badly if Marble gets on the counter”. Marble didn’t normally jump on the counter. Well, dear friend totally forgot about taking care of Marble, so Marble took matters into her own paws and kicked the bag to the floor, then ate all she wanted. I couldn’t blame her. And my friendship with the dear friend faded even though I forgave her. She was mortified that she forgot.

They keep the kibble in the lower cabinets. Is that the “treats” container?

Ah, the old knock it off the counter trick. That’s how I ended up 1 ceramic canister short of a set.

My story is much too sad to be told
Yeah, sitting here on this counter leaves me totally cold
The only exception I know is the case
When you’re out on a party spree
As I fight vainly the old ennui
You suddenly appear in my counter space
I get no kick from champagne
Mere alcohol doesn’t thrill me at all
So tell me why should it be true
That I get a kick out of you

I see a canister a-falling!
I see a mess upon the floor
I see a lot of trouble coming,
When our Humans open the door!
……..
Elvis avoids this like the plague
He doesn’t mean to be a drag,
But he knows this will not end well!
…….
I see the Human’s anger rising,
I see the cats all scatter away!
I see the no-no squirt bottle!
Somehow I know it’s gonna spray!
…….
Meanwhile the cats from all around
Come to make a wild sound,
As they use the litter box on the right!
