/// Mary had a fall of lambs

    whose fleece was faded yellow,

    and everywhere that Mary went

they tried to harsh her mellow.

    /// One followed her to school one day;

    it was a high-pitched squealer.

There was no silence of the lamb.

    Bleats frightened off her dealer.

/// So Mary’s now no longer high,

    with all that that connotes.

she took a good look at her lambs

    and saw they’re really goats!

These sheep are seriously shorn – I can see the razor burn on their backs.

    The chances are rather remote/

of falling in love with a goat./

    Though some shepherds sleep/

    with a favorite sheep/

(But that’s rare – among persons of note). ///

    Today, Maria wears blue/

    (it’s every goat’s favorite hue)/

    Yet something’s amiss…

    (the goats notice this)/

For her hat has been knocked askew..///

    Take a look at Maria’s expression/

    She’s just come from a nasty session ! /

    Awakened by bleating/

    She caught “Billy” cheating/

    And extracted a goatly confession..///

There are those who will say “That’s just silly”/

    That Maria’s “just a tad chilly”/

    But persons more canny/

Know – she’s lost out to Nanny :/

Lost out in the battle for Billy..

Mary had a little lamb, which was white as snow.

And every time it wagged its tail, it showed its little hole.

    Luckily for Mary here

She had not much to do.

For if she took a single step

    It’d probably be in poo.

    High Noon in the Alps

    Paste (including the quote marks)

"File:Giovanni Segantini - High Noon in the Alps - Google Art Project.jpg" site=commons.wikimedia.org

(syntax supported by the Google and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and chose the first File: link found for info and links that point to more info (best viewed using Google Chrome, which can automatically translate most webpages if necessary) about this roughly jumbo envelope size painting. Notes has an Archived Japanese link that describes the painting. Though the archiving process somehow stops Chrome from translating the webpage, if you first translate.google.com the webpage, the resulting webpage can be translated by Chrome (translate.google.com doesn’t change the Japanese in the archived webpage, which also stops translate.google.com from translating it; but, somehow it activates translation in Chrome – doesn’t make sense to me either, just sharing what I’ve found out).

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #2927 (August 28, 2012) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there pointing to the artist info I used to point to here. So far 3 works, by this artist, have been used here. The March 30, 2018, strip has the prior. The active artist info URLs in my comment there are pointed to by here links in my blog comment.
