This is the fundamental difference between children and adults. The definition of adult is one who does not need constant reassurances. I’m not saying a special effort like preparing to go out should not be recognized; I’m just saying one should not need “clockwork flattery” to feel loved.
Personally, my second wife’s earlobes were two of her more endearing features. :)
