If by “Identity Politics” you mean the current group of GQP members willing to attempt a coup and overthrow the government, then the one on the right (wing). But I doubt that’s what Ramirez is saying.

After months of observation, I have come to the realization that in the eyes of the Dem trolls, 2+2=Jan 6. The capital of Wisconsin is Jan 6. Jan 6 invested the lightbulb, and the next host of Jeopardy should have been Jan 6.

Gasp! If Democracy keeps on spreading, one day everybody might get it.

In academic usage, identity politics refers to a wide range of political activities rooted in experiences of shared injustice by ‘members’ of social groups.

The term identity politics has been hijacked by the ‘right’ and the ’left’ as a slur against ordinary citizens who are ‘uppity’ [politically active] only about specific issues that they take very personally.

Close kin to the one issue voter, these uppity identity politics people insist that their interests be equally recognized and represented in the paradigm.

“In this context, [rather than organizing solely around status quo belief systems or traditional party affiliations] identity politics aims to achieve greater self-determination and political freedom for marginalized people through understanding particular paradigms and lifestyle choices, and challenging externally imposed stereotypes and limitations.”

Hey, whatever floats your boat. The more of us involved in our Democracy, the better.

The only thing Republicans are really, truly good at any more is affixing negative, snarky, insulting names to ideas which scare or intimidate them.

Their motto is, “If I don’t understand it, or it threatens me in any way, give it a scary name!”

The idea that the Constitutional guarantee of true equal rights for all scares and intimidates many Republicans because it limits their own perceived power. So they label this American idea “Identity Politics” and talk anout it in darkest terms.

The other day dnie criticized Kamala Harris as being a member of a Privileged Minority".

Republicans had better quickly learn that they are members of an Over-Privileged Minority and that they will soon be forced to settle for the basic protection of equal rights for all.

Interesting that the people most endeared to identity politics (by their writings) are the most critical of Ramirez for bringing it up.

I suggest The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt to help understand the mindset of both sides.

Ramirez once again implicitly denies the recent violent attempt to overthrow the government of the United States.

Instead, he — and all other Trump Disciples — claim that the REAL threat to America is something they call ‘identity politics’, which they define by making it up as they go along.

    .

Meanwhile, The Disciples continue to IDENTIFY anything that helps people generally as SOCIALIST — which they further identify as communist. And fascist.

    .

This is just one more ‘issue’ that Ramirez made up so he could LIE about it. He is joined in his LIEs by the other extreme right wing commenters.

Let’s see – the last count for Covid deaths in the US was at 1.03M. You think identity politics had something to do with the early response to the pandemic? You bet your sweet bippy it did.

January 6 was not a rebellion and overthrow of the government . It was, however, a measure of the frustration and alienation by our political class on both sides of the aisle versus the voter who feels that no one listens and is sick to death of the Washington elite.
