I’m 70, and I don’t feel old enough to buy either one. As you’ve no doubt guessed, I don’t live in Texas.

Dad, go on YouTube and show the little cretin the destruction and suffering that firearms and explosives cause in this world!!

Nothing says good times quite like carelessly used explosives.

Water balloons & squirt guns can be fun – best done outside however…!

I dunno why, but in profile (see third panel), Calvin’s head looks just like a Pez dispenser!!

But anyway—he SERIOUSLY needs psychiatric help!!

Fortunately, Dad is old enough to know better too!

Given the increasing frequency of gun and explosive events, this one is bitterly ironic.

Considering the normal Calvin/Dad interactions it is so nice see Dad so excited to do a project with his little guy!! <3

I’m old enough to buy firearms, but I don’t have a permit. And I can’t get explosives: I don’t have a license. To get a license, I have to show I have a need for their legitimate use in my work, which I don’t have. I also have show those who will using the explosives have proper training in handling, storage, and use.

I wonder. If there was a book made up of all the C+H strips that wouldn’t be acceptable to print by today’s standards, how big would it be?

Kid has foresight.

My dad taught me to shoot at 5. Had a .22 with a “my sized” custom stock.

Taught me hunting at 8. Always supervised.

When my dad and his brothers were around Calvin’s age, they found a box of dynamite sticks (this was a hundred years ago) and blew up a tree. Calvin was just born a hundred years too late.

Calvin’s Dad actually thought they were going to have a father/son bonding experience.

My Pops taught me how to shoot and he bought me my first .22 at ten, he also taught me the important skill of launching a tin can with a well placed “Black Cat”. In old time free California no less, today a firecracker could land you in jail.

Feel bad for Dad watching him in frame 3 building with excitement over the thought of bonding with his son, and knowing the inevitable deflation that will happen in frame 4. :^(

In the second panel, you know Calvin acting innocent like that means he’s really up to something…

..and with a simple signature on a couple of forms, we can get a cannon !

Ahhhhh…is this how the Bundy family started out?

This is not what Calvin’s dad had in mind for father-son bonding. (Terrible idea, Calvin!)
