I gotta admit that the flip was kind of impressive.

The story arc on Frazz about a week ago(?) was about how soft a pile of leaves ISN’T!

9.8! Though a tad bit better landing and it was a 9.9 for sure.

I remember the first (& last) time I jumped into a really big pile of leaves, It was not nearly as soft a landing as I had imagined & expected it to be. In addition, I was covered from head to toe, with tiny leave particles stuck all over me.

Possible events:Cider gulping

Leaf pile jump (speed, distance, freestyle)

Gutter climb and clear

Pumpkin carving

Marshmallow toasting

Speed leaf-raking

Storm window lift and place

Takes lots of work to prepare the leaves, Calvin.

Cal’s just enjoying the day for a change. He needs more of those.

Isn’t it too chilly for Calvin to be outside without a sweater or jacket??

At least he landed on his feet. That ought to be worth some points.

My husband almost died in 2010. Our daughters were 8 and 6 when it happened. One day, after my husband came home from the hospital, the teenage boy who lived next door, to cheer up our daughters, did a bike stunt where he rode towards a huge pile of leaves, stopped right before the pile, and flew into the pile over the handlebars. Now THAT could be an Olympic sport!

Good idea, but that would leaf out the countries that really don’t have Fall…

Oh, there’s plenty of falling in those other Olympics.

The next event in the Fall Olympics will be the 100 Yard Dash away from the Dad who raked all those leaves.

Kids being kids. Great to see, brings back fond memories.

Yup…

When I was growing up in rural California, we could pick cotton after school for a little money. 2.5 cents a pound and there’s a lot of cotton in a pound. But the real payoff was at the end of the day, we could stand on the edge of the 10-12 foot high cotton trailer and dive into a cloud to pack the cotton down. Great times

That would be cool. Pumpkin chunking, hands only, no machines would be awesome. Little orange shotputs that mush on impact.

the pain is still fresh these decades later!

“A fall” is usually considered a bad thing in most Olympic sports. Otherwise, soccer “penalty flop” might become its own event. :)

I thought Calvin didn’t like the present.

One of the rare times the leaf pile isn’t alive and attacking Calvin.

Humpty Dumpty had a bad summer, but he had a great fall.

They have diving, but they should also have jumping events in the Olympics. Jumps like the cannonball, can opener and preacher. See which makes the biggest splash

A Fall Olympics would be great. Speed skating on a half-frozen lake.
