Gil says, in all reality , I remember getting beat up by the varsity football players and then after practice I learned how to scrub backs and after the showers everyone snapped their towels at me, that’s what I remember from my first day of school .
Today we learn Keri is enrolling at Milford as a 20 year old freshman. Anyone else think P3 makes Milford High look like it was built in 1940? And how about Jami? If he runs into Luke Jr. does that mean Jami is at Tech? Note also that Gil and Mimi are dropping kids off separately, one day apart. Or perhaps Jami and Junior are both at another type of alternative institution?
Hmm, looks like Keri is more like BHHL than Gil. I see her flashing all her championship rings too. Wonder what they’re for? I think one is for “Most Sewn Sweatshirts in a Week”. And the other might be for “Most Sarcastic Teen”. And speaking of rings, does Mopped Up Thorp ring a bell? I would hope so.
p 1.5: “…silly Daddy!…we do that every day…” P 4: “…just wait Daddy!…it won’t be long before I’m hangin’ around with some idiotic loser, older guy that you and mom will absolutely hate!…”
I’m enjoying the re-addition of the kids specifically and the current story generally but as a parent and former kid/teen the parents getting this close to school with kids this age rings as false. As does the strong emotions the parents are feeling. I’m looking forward to more interactions with The Strip’s New Designated Villain though.
I went through registration through high school. School system made sure parents had to fill out and sign forms on registration day. With my daughter we walked through the new high school together and found her classes. With my then youngest grandson we walked his schedule to help him ease into high school. The building is rather huge.

Keri has too much hardware in her ear to pass through the school’s metal detector.

On Gil’s first day in high school they took loyalty oaths…

Why are they taking their kids to class. Maybe up to grade 2, I recall my parents doing that. But… wow. As Keri might say, cringe much.

Still reading old Gil Thorps. 1978: the football team has their first losing season in 20 years, and the basketball star’s girlfriend is pregnant!

Gunnery Sergeant Highway sees Keri. High and tight. Nice. Now lose the hardware!

Gil’s response is odd. Keri is still getting overpriced coffee, it’s just that someone else paid for it.

The new Thorp family sure cries a lot lately.

P1 The ants are either eager to join Keri for a Starbucks and start school as they form their columns on her sweatshirt.
P2 Nice snark by Gil. It was probably wise that he didn’t mention that he used animal blood to make those cave wall drawings.
P3 “I love you too daddy – but you’re not getting my 1/3 can of Hoo Hard Seltzer Lite!”

Hopefully some football next week. Interested to see how Henry handles that, in this new Milford universe

Milford has a Starbucks? I thought the Copyright Cafe and the Diner had an exclusive coffee distribution ideal n the town.

Clearly, Gil is trying to make up for 15 years of lost parenting.

Gil has to show Keri where the Shop class is, where she will be working at the mill.
