The same people who were outraged about a slogan of “Defund the police” (which no actual elected Democratic office holder or candidate ran on) are now calling to “Defund the [federal] police [the FBI].” The hypocrisy astounds.
When the FBI was investigating Hillary (in a case that would soon close with no arrests, no indictments, and no charges of any kind), they chanted “Lock her up.”
When the FBI investigates crimes, including violations of the same Espionage Act that sent Ethel and Julius Rosenberg to the electric chair at Sing Sing, they call on their army of domestic terrorists to attack, dox and threaten the lives of federal officers who are just doing their job.
Law and order?
Those who proclaim it the loudest are the same ones who wrapped themselves in a flag that they trample on and clutch a Bible they have not read, do not understand and certainly do not live by.
Mike Pence stands up for the FBI, a long-held Republican value, and the angry mob resumes its calls for domestic terrorism.
Mike Pence has no more place in American politics. Republicans, now the Trump cult of personality, reject him for not following Trump down a path of treason. Everyone else rejects him for his five years of humiliating fealty to Trump through all his earlier crimes.
We all saw the scene from Jan. 6 when the Secret Service wanted to get Pence out of the building and he refused to leave. The question is, were they getting him out for his safety, or were they doing former guy’s bidding by getting him out of the building so he couldn’t certify the Electoral College vote count?
“Defund the FBI” should be used against republicans just like “defund the police” was used against democrats. A great attack ad would list all the times repubs made ridiculous excuses for not just Trump’s criminal behavior, but gun violence, women’s rights, global warming, the list is endless.
I’ve changed the way I evaluate politicians, especially since January 6. It’s no longer about if they’re Right or they’re Left; it’s do they seem to know the difference between their “Right” and their “Wrong” and act accordingly.
Pence remains certain he has a really good shot as the 2024 GQP nominee for President.
Pence knows he has no chance of winning that election if he alienates the Christian RWNJ Republican base.
Pence knows the Christian RWNJ Republican base has invested very nearly the same amount of faith in DJT as they have in their Christian “god”(sic).
Pence ought to be screwed.
But.
The Christian RWNJ Republican base has no trouble believing the supernatural legend tales which are the basis of the Bible are True Facts™.
This intellectual quirk enables the members of this group to believe anything at any time.
If DJT’s legal problems result in someone else selected to head the GQP ticket in 2024, the Christian RWNJ Republican base is absolutely capable of ditching any animosity they harbor against Pence, for whatever reason, and instead enthusiastically lining up for Pence well in time to turn out 100% that November.
Because no other conservative candidate for President that year is more of a True Christian™ than Mike Pence.
Let me just point out again, as I do from time to time, that, from the Palmer Raids to COINTELPRO and beyond, including the planting of an agent provocateur in the Panther 21, the FBI has been the consistent enemy of anything progressive in the US. After all, what was the nation’s law enforcement agency doing in writing poison-pen letters to MLK? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Bureau_of_Investigation#Controversies mentions only a few examples.
Personally, I’m willing to believe that the FBI is somewhat more professional these days, and that their raid on the TFG is legitimate, but we should all keep the agency’s dark history in mind before rushing to defend it.
Utterly spineless, stupid, sycophant. STILL hasn’t grasped that loyalty to Trump (which Pence owes to him big time for putting him as second banana on the ’16 ticket for the sole purpose of raking in the Bible bashers) is a one-way street. This mealy-mouthed twit STILL believes (or, rather, sniffs at) the fairy tail that he has a chance at the big chair the Office Oval.

2 acts of Pence flouting Der Groppenfuror’s wishes. I’m sure he’ll come to his senses before doing it again.

Is the fly going to be Pence’s symbol, like Trump’s sippy cup?

People around the world see The United States represented by Republicans. This is so embarrassing.

Seems that Pence still has a shred of decency. Too bad he’s an empty suit.
