Life is never too easy

How about, don’t have lawns. Then you could leave the leaves alone. They are supposed to lie on the ground and enrich the soil. You wouldn’t have to mow either.

Trees that never shed their leaves… Sort of like the Live Oaks that they have down South…. An interesting idea.

We have pine trees, and this past week the shedding process has begun. A bunch of needles are dead now and will drop off in the next big wind. Then I will have to rake them up, most importantly to prevent the mat of pine needles from becoming a hazard if wildfires get near.

Apparently, this strip is before leaf-blowers and outdoor vacuums.

Mulching the leaves with the lawn mower isn’t the easiest solution. But it sure beats all of that raking.

Using a leaf blower is easier, but they are noisy. Just blow the leaves into a pile then put them the can, or if your city has the policy of you putting the leaves on the street near the curb then they come and get them.

Cut my trees down…no more leaves. Dug my lawn up…no more mowing the lawn…….just dreaming…

I don’t think southern California have leave problems. Maybe because they only have two seasons (like Vietnam) Heat and rain.

How about get off your butts and get busy doing what you were told to do.

I solved the problem by moving to an apartment.

Hire a lawn service for fall clean up. I found it well worth the expense in my former house that had a lot of shedding trees. They mulched some of the leaves -eventually I hired them to do the lawn. I still did the gardens and trimmed the bushes and trees and such.

Hmmm. Seems to me there were some complaints a few days ago about Michael and Elizabeth not raking leaves.

I have a blower that also sucks up (and mulches) leaves – had it since this was originally drawn. It’s not a huge vacuum that sucks up all the leaves, but it’s better than just raking and bagging.

Holy! How long will it take them to figure how easy life was when they were kids?

The wild stands of forest trees do just great with a nourishing layer of leaves every year. No raking required.

Michael and Elizabeth are doing well to prepare for their adult lives, assuming they grow up to be lazy slobs on welfare.

Witnessed the result of what happens when man decides to clean out the forest of leaves acting as a natural mulch – a forest getting choked with dense sapling / poison ivy / sticker bush growth and fungus that kill the old growth trees. Tampering with the natural order of things is unnatural and usually detrimental.

You know what that’s like, don’t you John?

I loved raking leaves, but since I’m not very able any more, I usually just end up mulching them and spreading them in my flower beds.

Fellas, you both will regret enjoying the falling leaves once you come into the daily grind of adulthood. Better rake yhe fallen leafs and enjoy as of now.
