I quite enjoy seeing my friends’ travel posts. I like seeing them have fun, and have no need to feel jealous about it. I really don’t get why Janis sees people going about their lives as a taunt.
So, I had to look up what the Amalfi Coast was. Google says it is a popular vacation destination with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches. I live in Oregon. The Oregon Coast is a popular vacation destination with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches. Hmmmm….
In an office for an interview one day I had a few moments to glance around while the interviewer searched for a file on the computer. A framed picture on the wall behind her showed a bench on a coastal viewpoint site with islands beyond.
It took me a moment to realize it was a bench I’d sat on while taking in the view from Sorrento, Italy, late one summer Friday afternoon, on a little weekend excursion from where my US Navy ship was home ported in Gaeta to Naples by train, and from there on down the Amalfi Coast by bus. Took a boat tour of Capri & the Blue Grotto on a different trip down that coast.

Italy has their problems as well. The coast is nice though.

My Dad spent time on the Amalfi Coast, hated it… what with all the shooting and bombing and Nazis and all.

I am on forums with a number of people who live a more nomadic life. Sometimes we compare notes.
