You have it easy Darryl. Just trudge off to work and be thankful you don’t have Wanda’s job.

Laundry? The washer, the dryer and the soap do 96% of the work!

I feel for both of them having worked AND been a mother. Normal human emotions when the alarm goes off!

Presuming it’s 6:00 AM, Wanda should be done with all she mentioned by noon. What’s she going to do until Zoe and Hammie get home from school around 3:20 PM?

Sadly Wanda, you will only accomplish 1/3 of what you are “dying” to accomplish.

Today’s strip makes me look lazy when I was a young mom.

From the day I hit school age, I was expected to be downstairs dressed and ready to go to school on time. When I hit first grade, I was expected to make my lunch for school the night before (there were sandwich fixings in the fridge) and it was assumed since kindergarten that since I had hands, I could make a bowl of cereal in the morning for myself. Is this really what is like in some homes in the morning? My Mom and Dad made it clear that I had to learn to these things for myself. But I never got tasked with laundry until I was 14. There was some incident with my older brother and the laundry machine when I was very little that established the rule that kids weren’t allowed to touch it.

Yep, you would be far better off going to work.

Maybe Daryl could itemize the tasks he’s expected to perform during his workday? Or must he sheepishly admit that she has it harder just because he’s the Dad in a family comic strip. Running a household isn’t easy, but neither is working in most office jobs.

Wanda’s recital of things she has to do in no way negates Darryl’s statement that he doesn’t want to go to work. I’m sure Wanda would rather not do all the things on her list. Just saying you don’t want to do something is not the same as saying you won’t do it.
