Diana Rigg, once upon a time, described herself as “very forgetful.” She kept forgetting to carry her apartment key and would find herself locked out. Always resourceful, she would pick up a milk bottle and break a pane out of the sidelight window, reach inside, and unlock the door by hand. Then she would call the building superintendent and have him replace the broken pane. Long about the third time this little scenario played out, he undertook to replace the pane with a small glass “door” that Ms. Rigg could open by hand and thus access the lock. He too was a resourceful (and pragmatic) person.
Break a window, get in. Tape a piece of cardboard or wood or really anything handy over the window. Dad is a fisherman, I’m sure he has tools and stuff to fix it until they can replace the glass. If it gets too cold, stuff an old pillow or blanket in with the cardboard.
The only downside I can see is that Sterling could easily escape into the night, in which case the town will be burnt to the ground by sunrise.

I was wondering about that. I figured they would have given a key to Spud’s mom.

I think my original suggestion of rock meet window is even more valid at this point.

A youth of today who can’t handle responsibility? How absurd.

I openly and vocally laughed at this one! Poor Spud, haunted by a responsibilities of a key.

I mean…to be honest, that outcome was totally foreseeable. This IS Spud we’re talking about, after all.

Why didn’t she give the key to one of the parents?
