Are you alive or is this the here after?
An old lady would definitely drive better than Calvin.
riding down the hill on the sled (and wagon in the spring, summer, and autumn) sure is quite a life-defying adventure, isn’t it?
That’s Calvin…ever the optimist!!!
Hobbes is glad he’s alive. That’s why he wants to steer from now on.
Looks like Calvins skill is as flaky as driven snow!
Where did they leave the sled? And WHY did they leave it if there’s to be a next time?
It’s interesting how Mr. Watterson drew the snow-covered C&H!
That’s exactly how I used to do it! How I miss those days, even with the limp.
The secret to a fulfilled life: Be Glad We’re Alive.
At time, alternatives are worse than the problem
in one of these there’s the comment about the sled catching fire.
“You should be glad we’re alive”, words to live by!
Tobogganing one day, we couldn’t stop it racing downhill and went through a crowd of people at the bottom… they flew in every direction…and no one got hurt..we landed all over but thank god we were all ok! ☺️
One of the best bits of any adventure is btching about it afterwards loudly enough for everyone to hear how amazing it is that your still alive.
When I was a small panda, we knew we had enough sledding for one day when, we were half frozen, wet, exhausted and thoroughly satisfied.
‘’Where have you been? Get out of those wet clothes! And hang them up to dry!’’
I think a little old lady would steer like Calvin and a skilled driver would miss those obstacles
LOL… gotta love Hobbes. He TRYS to keep Calvin on the straight and narrow, but they always seem to go by way of the gully and into that stream…
How can he ‘steer’ like an old lady? That’s bull!
Hobbes is aware of the existential problem of his continued existence should Calvin get himself killed.
It’s a good sledding day when you end up looking like those two. (so long ago)
If you can call that living.
One good day of sledding ended with me hitting a tree. I’d do it again, though.
As an old lady, I take exception to the old lady bash. We’re a formidable bunch. Sissies but opinionated.
Calvin and Hobbes always have too much fun.
For newspapers that color the weekday strips, this was a relief.
At least you landed in the snow.
Ah, for the carefree days of youth, when we thought we would live forever.
Hobbes’s remark in the imaginary fifth panel: “I’m glad I’m alive.”
Sigh. No one takes time to count their blessings.
I can just imagine Mom telling Calvin to shake all the snow off himself and Hobbes before they come in the house.
