When our girls were younger, my husband & I decided that we would not get them clothes for Christmas. Between my mother and my older daughter’s Godmother, they always got plenty of clothes so we could concentrate on getting them the FUN gifts!

I’ve asked for the same thing for 40+ years. And I still haven’t gotten a life.

Getting new ice skates every Christmas was the highlight of my holiday! --Even if they were $12 from Sears back then.

Did she ask for and want them??? If no, explanation is self expalanatory. If yes, sometimes, having isn’t as exciting as wanting.

If you want nothing for Christmas, then it is easy to fake excitement.

A properly filled sweater is a thing of beauty.

Why I can still remember Mary Hanks’ sweater from back in 1971. It’s about all I can remember: that sweater and her name. Okay I also remember that smile on her face, the one that comes with knowing she was torturing poor innocent me. On the other hand, some torture is worth suffering.

    Good memories!!

(The secret to a good memory is selectivity.)

I remember getting rollerblades 1 yr. I gave up trying to use them after about a wk. Never could find my balance. Weak ankles & flat feet didn’t help either.

It’s one of the drawbacks of celebrating Christmas in the winter. A person tends to receive winter clothes, which are useful for the season, but are parked in the back of the closet or in a drawer the rest of the year. And how many sweaters, sweatshirts/pants, wool caps, gloves, etc. does a person actually need, anyway?
