Sign of the times. I remember reading a report in the 1960’s that the world would run out of oil by 1990. That was based on current drilling efforts when they could make a profit at $6 a barrel. As the price goes up, the oil companies can now still make a profit by drilling deeper and in more places as long as people are still willing to pay for it no matter how much they grumble or which politician they blame.
However, oil is still a finite resource. We will run out eventually at any price.
