’Toon #2 reminded me of what befell one of my best friends in high school during our junior year. He blew three fingers, including his thumb, off of his left hand with an M-80. He was also a southpaw.

Despite being from decades ago and from an earlier era, BOZO came like a fresh fragrant breeze full of fun during the gloomy lockdown days of COVID. Ever since then, and till date, me days have been cheerful which may not have been so cheerful otherwise.

For those who come in late, these fabulous fun funnies was envisioned and executed so beautifully and brilliantly by FoXo Reardon, a true master cartoonist who told his funny tales with his awesome artwork alone, without any of his characters in BOZO ever saying a single word.

An especially excellent epitome of pictures speaking thousand words, BOZO also the most pleasant picturesque pantomime where every panel is like a photograph of a three-dimensional cartoon world of realistic-looking depths and details. Such was his powerful perspective artwork which brought to life a lovely lively world of BOZO!

FoXo a rare combination of both sharp wits and artistic talents which is rarely seen together in the same cartoonist, a true master and professional cartoonist whose work quality speaks for itself and as you can see for yourself BOZO is pure gold coming from a golden era of cartooning! So no wonder that these wonderful wordless wonders still bring great joy and sheer cheer to many even today.

But despite being a great classic of great creative calibre, neither BOZO nor FoXo are much known or remembered these days.

Just for fun, has anyone tried to count the number of people watching Bozo start out on the tightrope in ROAD BLOCKED? To keep it simple, just use the first panel in the strip. I’ll give my answer the next time we see the strip.

By the way, that’s one of the most commonly misheard lyrics…. The song goes, “Like a rubber necked giraffe, you look into my past”

(1) Might have had a shot, Bozo, if you’d managed to replace the guy in the boat — simply joining the couple is bad form. (But the number of hearts in panel 2 suggests you still wouldn’t have a chance.)

(2) Clever firecracker, designed to spell out that message in panel 4, Bozo. For your sake, I hope the cop survived. Wait — what am I saying? He’s a cartoon cop! Of course he survived!

(3) Should have called ahead for a reservation, Bozo — that high wire gets a lot of business this time of year!
