You can think of all the things you would have missed if you were born earlier, good and bad, and then turn around and wonder what youâre going to miss in the future.
My folks endured a second âgreat depressionâ in 1935 and I arrived. I think they spent a long time afterward wondering where things went wrong. : )
As to the once ubiquitous âgender revealâ parties, I guess that falls under the old saw that âany excuse for a party is a good oneâ.
Gender reveal parties are pretty good when done right (My friend did it by announcing her pregnancy in tandem. It was a well-timed double-surprise because she wasnât noticeable yet!). Some people take it WAAAAAAAAY too far though >_>
Putting aside the dangerous practices at those parties and the offense to trans, itâs just a crude reason for a party. âHey, everybody! This baby has a [private part]!â
Iâve been puzzled about gender reveals. Theyâre the rage with young people (since theyâre the ones having babies), yet young people tend to be liberal. Liberals tend to believe in gender fluidity. So why is there a big deal about revealing gender? Serious question.

When I was born, 1970, gender reveals werenât conclusive until birth. Yes, there were tests at that time, but they werenât that accurate.

I feel really old now, hearing a song from 1990 referred to as an âold songâ.

I missed out on casual interstellar space travel, but I also missed out on the Black Plague.

I tried doing a gender reveal at a fraternity party one time, but the gals all said it was disgusting and left the room.

Why care about something like that when you werenât even aware if it were happening?

In many languages, such as French and Spanish, all words have a gender. It is not always the gender you might imagine from what the word means.
