Looks like it’s time for another viewing of “Easter Fever (1979)”. It was a Canadian cartoon in the style of a Dean Martin Celebrity Roast. It featured many voices from Second City comedy troupe: Catherine O’Hara, Robin Duke, Eugene Levy, Maurice LaMarche (better known now for his character Brain in Pinky and The Brain) and Garret Morris as the Easter Bunny.
To me Easter has always reminded me of the bittersweet road that precedes death; we all know it is coming, and as Jesus pointed out no matter how pure our life has been Gods test at the end will gage our new beginning in the afterlife.
I played Easter Bunny for kids at a party yesterday. The kids were great and great fun. The “head” was difficult to work with and I couldn’t do a really good Easter Bunny.
okay, folks. why has no one picked up on the fact that April only lisps SOME of the time? If you read through all of her side of the conversation, she is able to pronounce plenty of “s’s”. should be THuperman and later on got-th a jacket and got-th fur on and lot-th of choc’lit cauth he liketh it- an he hopth like DITH!!! well, you get the idea… I don’t know of any child who can only lisp SOME of the time!! Come on Lynn!!! Get it right!
Even as a small child, I could deal with Santa Clause since he was everywhere at Christmas season; in the downtown department store, on TV, on billboards. The Easter Bunny, however, was a problem. I just could not wrap my mind around a big rabbit hopping into our dining room and leaving an Easter basket.
I tried to get my son to pose with the Easter Bunny at the Maine Mall on Saturday. He wouldn’t do it, even though I wheedled. Could have something to do with the fact that he’s 45….
My wife read this one before I did. And neither of us has much tolerance for Apwil’s forced babytalk. So when I picked up the comics page I saw my wife had scrawled the words [VOMIT EMOJI] across the top, which gave me a huge chuckle and, to quote The Band, “gave my heart a throb to the bottom of my feet.”
Oh, memories! My dad was an inveterate leg puller and so would have done something like this. Had me going in circles one time with insisting the name of the “king of the jungle” was Raznat. Got me so mixed up I was convinced it was Tazran. Both he and my older brother were rolling on the floor, of course.

April has beautiful imagination! I hope she keeps it as long as she is a child (in this cartoon, anyway).
