Hell Tennessee political butt heads still want to imortalize Nathan Bedford Forrest the person responsable for the Fort Pillow Massacre of 300 black union soldiers who were surendered by their white officers in 1864. want his bust returned to the state capital building to show their klan support.
Turns out DeSatan has a problem. He has to resign as Governor to run for President. Florida’s constitution doesn’t allow a sitting Governor to run for President. Of course, instead of following his own state’s law, he busy trying to change it. Have to love those law abiding Repubs. The only way they can be law abiding is to change the laws when convenient for them.
When DeSantis is done with the trans and drag queens, which marginalized group will he go after next? Fascist need a scapegoat to go after. Doing so makes them feel better about their own pathetic lives.
I laugh woke/wouk/wohk no matter how you spell it simply means being aware of and ready to most likely experience racial prejudice and discrimination. With the republicans continually showing their butts to the world, I think the non-republicans are well aware of the republicans desire to turn back time when the rich had their minions distract the poor by highlighting the differences between race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. that way the poor whites will not figure out that if their children learned about critical race theory they would see what the rich are doing and unite against the overly privileged.
The latest big lie by the Repubs is that of wokism being so bad for the nation. But, being aware of the evils of our society is the very thing we all need to be doing, not working against wokism. Once again, the Repubs have created a bogey man to spread fear into their electorate. Unfortunately, like most of the Repub lines, this fear does not exist.
They just introduced a bill letting 14 year olds work in packing plants AND a bill that absolves the packing plants of being responsible for injuries to the kids. That’s farther south than Mississippi!
No one not from MAGA is going to win the nomination. Forget about that. If you think Trump can be defeated by an Establishment Republican, you’re being naive. The only way to beat Trump is to out-Trump him. It’s a race to the bottom, not the top.
DeSantis won’t succeed because he’s not a MAGA at heart. He will do things that anger the base and things that anger everyone else. He’s not adept at this. The gap is too wide. Even Trump can’t bring the party under one roof. So, absent another even more dynamic fascist, the Party will go along in sufficient numbers to nominate him, but not enough that he can win the general election.
While we’re at it, forget about the justice system rescuing us from Trump. He still hasn’t been charged with anything, and if he is he’ll ride that martyrdom right to the nomination.

Iowa is a bit more woke than some more southern states.

DeSantis’ general counsel made a stab at defining ‘woke’.
I’m guessing Republicans won’t like it. They won’t provide an alternative, though.

Has anyone read about N Carolina’s SC and the attempt to roll back to gerrymandering?

Republican voters can’t even DEFINE what Woke is! They just know it’s BAD! and that they have to vote “R” to keep it from happening.

What can you say about a man who thinks he’s more important to American Culture than Mickey Mouse and Snow White?

On another note, the man who wrote A Short History of Nearly Everything—Bill Bryson, lives there. He did say the Midwest was rather boring, though.
