Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Language, both spoken or written, is symbolic. They only have meaning if they are shared with others in society and if we agree what the image or sound means. If you decide you will arbitrarily reassign meaning any way want, applied only to you, they lose meaning. If you decide “Apple pony,” means “Help me, I’m on fire!” and you have an accident lighting the charcoal grill it doesn’t matter how loudly you scream “APPLE PONY!” No one is going to come help you.
Yes, the shared symbols can and do change – but over time and the changes are shared – they are not arbitrary and individual. Awful once meant awe-inspiring. Terrific meant terrifying. But today we’d rather be told we look terrific than awful.
So…is this baseball, or softball, or a combination of the two (like the Girls League of the late 40s/early 50s, the one dramatized on “A League of their Own”)?
They’re = they are. So Mr. Professional Radio Announcer just said “Milford leads off with they are first at bat.” See how easy it is for this choose-your-own-pronoun idiocy to get out of control?
That’s a fair idea- why not have two batters at the plate at once-one on each side of it. You’d have twice the chance of getting a hit, but it would count as two outs.
Why would Marty know her pronouns?? Radio coverage of a girl’s HS softball game?? Does he have a color man?? Does he have a pronoun man? So many questions.
Hey there, baseball fans, this goes out to the artist. Anyone who has ever played has been taught that you never get any power if you only swing with your arms. Keri’s drive wouldn’t get out of the infield.
Yesterday we had a player wearing red shorts over purple pants while Leo wore red uniform pants. Where’s Keri’s red pants or shorts? What are the other players wearing?
Hopefully that “CRACK!” isn’t their back from that awkward swing. And speaking of awkward, Marty’s bailing in today’s Mopped Up Thorp is a bit awkward.

Marty Moon may be a semi-manical sports announcer but even he gets not respecting pronouns is just being a #%@#$

Genesis 1:27. There is only one truth. If we all create our own what is left but confusion?

THEIR, not THEY’RE. If you’re going to do this, at least do it right.

The irony is that the people who complain about “pronouns” are the ones being offended by a pronoun.

I remember when Gil Thorp was actually fun to read.

I refuse to participate in this “choose your own pronoun because you think your special” nonsense.

Who’s on first?

Keri can hope they hit it through one of those big holes in the fence. Might get a triple out of it.

P-1: We learn Milford is hosting this game. Apparently, there will be snacks and soda after.
P-2: The wise Marty Moon points out Keri leads off by being first at bat. This allows the Moon Man to score the first redundancy of the season.
P-3: Keri uses all her T-Ball skills to connect with the pitch, as Marty exaggerates to enliven the broadcast.

Is there a radio station anywhere in the USA that broadcasts JV softball games?

Keri steps up to the plate. They are first bat.
