I have to agree on the avocado toast thing. The second “influencers” stop promoting it, nobody will care anymore. Plus, it tastes like wet grass lump on bread.
Kids not only hear what you say, they repeat it back to other people at the most embarrassing times. Ask Dennis the menace who is always getting his parents in trouble by telling people what his parents have said about them at home.
Oh, they hear you. They just chose to obey selectively and repeat what they hear at the darnedest times. Remember Art Linkletter’s “Kids Say The Darnedest Things”.
My wife worked with mildly learning disabled kids for years. You wouldn’t believe the stuff they told her. Little kids are listening and will rat you out in a heartbeat!
Some years ago, I was in a discussion on some website about how here in New York, people say “he had a baby over it” (meaning he got very angry), but in some states they say “he had kittens over it”. So now it seems that wherever these cartoonists live, people say that somebody "had a cow over it”.

Now y’all know better. They hear everything they see everything. You two better watch what you say and do from now on.

Today’s strip is totally bogus- there’s no way Little Piggy found a restaurant with gluten-free English muffins.

It’s only when you say things TO them that they don’t pay attention.

I’m with Hammie there. Avocado on toast is a pretty stupid trend. I prefer raspberry jam on toast.

My local independent grocer, which is always more expensive than the big chains, $1.79 for a dozen eggs.

Little pitchers have big ears.
Never say anything that won’t bear being repeated.
When kids misbehaved on the school bus, I would admonish then with the prefix, “Because I love you and want to keep you safe….”
They would repeat it to their parents and unintentionally create allies to support me.
