Why is it that pills come in only two sizes — very large, so they are hard to swallow [or fit into a pillbox], and very tiny, so that when they are dropped they either hide in the rug or skitter way across the floor?
My MD wants me to be on some meds, but here in my mid-70’s I still feel good, can do most things, etc. So.. if the meds increase the odds slightly but I would have to deal with the side effects, cost, etc., then why take them for a few (maybe) extra months???
I’m blessed with needing only a blood pressure medication, and if I can ever get the self determination to drop another 40 lbs I may be off those. Nothing would make me happier.
I have some friends that are a walking cauldron of pharmacuticals. They even take pills to offset the effects of other pills.
You need four (at least), and someone else to fill them properly. Someone who will also include a piece of chocolate to motivate you to TAKE YOUR PILLS!
For me it is a race between age and weight loss as to getting rid of or getting more pills. As I lose weight (lost 120 so far) I get off meds, as i age, i gain meds.
We each have 3 different medical conditions. He takes a LOT more meds than I do though. When he got his first prescription (decades ago) I bought a day of the week box for them. He insisted not needed. The first time he was not sure if he had taken the pill or not – he understood. (I had told him that I was not going to count all the pills left in the bottle when he could not remember if he took his pill.) He thanked me. (He forgets he is always saying “Meryl is always right” when I am.)
He now has a “D of the W” box in the bedroom for his am pills, one in the kitchen for his lunch and dinner pills, and another in the kitchen for his night pills. I have one in the bedroom for my am pills and one in the kitchen for my lunch and dinner pills. I refill the boxes on Saturday nights.
We each have a pocket pill box to carry the pills needed for lunch/dinner if eating out which is refilled from the other boxes when pills are used.
BUT – when we travel we travel in a rather small RV (Chevy van conversion- Class B). So we also have one of those sets of boxes each with a space for am, lunch, dinner and night that we use when we travel. I put his am pills in am, his meal pills in dinner and his night pills in night. I put all of my pills in lunch (I am can tell them apart and remember which to take when). When we go to sleep at night I put the next day’s box on his side of the small counter in the RV and he takes his am pills when we get up. He puts the box on my side of the counter and I take mine and put in the (only" drawer in the RV until we return home. At night we refill our pocket pill boxes from this box and before bed he takes his night pills – we put that box back into the holder and take out the next days’ pills to repeat. On long trips I bring open bottles of pills with us and reload the boxes at the end of the week. It is just easier with the lack of room to be able to take out one day’s at time.

My meds are all tiny, it’s things like joint supplements that take up the room.

Some of those supplement pills are big enough to warrant their own container.

Usually you get two: one for morning medications and one for evening. :)
