Is there an actual joke at the end of this marathon?

Like a bad penny, Jeff Murdoch keeps turning up.

The name of the strip is ‘Crankshaft’, not ‘Murdoch’. Bring back Crankshaft!

Shouldn’t he have three other guys with him to sing that song?

The “ole boy” got too hot!

Who points out that a penny is “practically mint”? Why would that be exciting? Or even have anything to do with this great joke?

The printed rhythm is accurate to the words, though it’s a little hard to understand without time signature and bar lines. I believe we’re in 4/4, and the first eight note is a pickup note. The downbeat of the first measure is the syllable “…Pen..”

“Penny Lane” actually has a slew of dirty jokes that were clear to most of the English. Myself, I didn’t know about the real intent of the piece until a few years ago.

Look up “dirty jokes in Penney Lane” (without quotation marks) in a search engine if you want a couple of chuckles.

So long as he’s not going to Strawberry Fields.

Try this. Google “The Beatles Lemon Tree”. Something weird is going on. Why does this show up on Google, YouTube and even in a word puzzle I solved yesterday? Someone is pulling an elaborate hoax.

I’d make a comment about “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” but of late there’s nothing pleasant about a Sunday “Crankshaft’s Replacements” strip.

At this point, I can’t believe Batty has no shame, no shame at all…

“Find a penny, pick it up. And. all day, you’ll have good luck!” That is what I say to myself whenever I find a penny on the ground. Especially, if I am on my way to buy a lottery ticket.

No joke, just a culturally-sensitive memory.
